Our Social and Environmental Journey

At Emotie, we are committed to driving positive change through our business practices. Guided by our vision, mission, and values, our Social and Environmental Plan aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and supports our journey towards B Corp certification. Here’s a concise timeline of our achievements so far and our plans for the future.

  • Vision & Mission Launch: We introduced our Social and Environmental Plan, built on our vision - A connected world of work where everyone thrives - and our mission - To create a space where individuals are heard, and organisations enhance the emotional connection and performance of their people.
     

  • SDG Alignment: We began integrating three key UN Sustainable Development Goals into our business strategy:
     

    • Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3)

    • Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8)

    • Climate Action (SDG 13)

  • Enhancing Internal Practices: We established new protocols to boost employee wellbeing and drive sustainable business growth.
     

  • Environmental Objectives: Initiatives were introduced to maintain our low carbon footprint, minimise energy, waste, and water usage, and promote environmentally conscious home working.
     

  • Digital Sustainability: We adopted sustainable software design principles to ensure our digital products operate as efficiently as possible, supporting our broader environmental goals.

  • We measured our carbon footprint with Green Small Business: We reported on data from every aspect of our business for the period Dec 2023–Nov 2024. Our carbon emissions across scopes 1, 2, and 3 totaled 2.73 tonnes COâ‚‚e, with Scope 3 emissions accounting for the majority, primarily from purchased goods and services. This footprint is significantly lower than the industry average for similar businesses. Achieving Green Small Business certification reflects our commitment to sustainability, and we continue to take action towards reducing our environmental impact, including adopting sustainable software design practices and exploring carbon tracking for our app.
     

  • Stakeholder Engagement: We strengthened partnerships with stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to achieve our sustainability targets.
     

  • Quarterly Reviews: Our Environmental Management System is now under regular quarterly review, ensuring that we continually measure, report, and improve our environmental performance.

2025 and Beyond:
Future Goals

  • Further Integration: We will continue embedding environmental considerations into our business model through policies such as Client Selection, Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, and Sustainable Transport.
     

  • Innovation & Expansion: Our goal is to expand our sustainability initiatives while supporting our overall journey towards B Corp certification.
     

  • Long-Term Legacy: We are dedicated to creating a lasting legacy by ensuring continuous improvement in our social and environmental practices, positively impacting both people and the planet.
